Bon Odori '09 and 'the' wedding

|

Bismillah... Assalamua'laikum,
(this blog has been kept as draft for couple of days, so if it's already 'old news', hey it's my blog!)

Bon Odori '09

Last weekend we (Me, Huda, Nazihah, Hazirah, Azlin and Ammar) had fabulous time attending 33rd Bon Odori at Matsushita Corp Stadium in Shah Alam. It was awesome! With all the dancing, the foods, the Japanese people and the gorgeous costumes.

What is Bon Odori? Bon or Obon is a Japanese custom to honor the ancestors or departed. It is also called the Feast of Lantern and has been celebrated in Japan for more than 500 years. This festival also includes a traditional dance, Bon Odori. (check more about Bon Festival on wikipedia)

So, that day we (that's me and huda) went to Nazihah's house; to borrow the yukata! Yes, we wore yukata, something we've never wore before. Yukata is a casual summer kimono, Japanese garment, made from cotton. With the help of Ammar (thanks soo much!), we wore the yukata succeededly. And this is how we looked:

Nope.. That's the picture of our back

Yeah.. That's us

Nazihah and Huda.. ain't they gorgeous?

And some Japanese young ladies

Azlin and Amar

I wish we could take more pictures. But we really have our fun! How about you? Have you went to any Bon Odori festival?
